The Steveston Motor Company has been posting some great Mini content on their YouTube channel. The recent Detoured four part series in Japan is fantastic.

Once again we have received an invitation to join the MG Club on their New Year’s Day Burn on 1 January 2016. The format is the traditional one – meet at Cattle Point in Oak Bay about 11:30am for a 12:00pm start, finishing at J.J. Morgan’s Restaurant in University Heights for a 1pm brunch.

Sunday, September 13, 2015 was a great sunny day at the Fort Rodd Hill Park. The English Car Affair in the Park had all types of English automobiles on show. Several members of our club attended and it was a pleasure to answer all sorts of questions being asked by the fellow car folks and general public about the Minis and the rare GTM. Karen brought her Lotus-Mini and the MINIs were equally appreciated as well. Linda and Mike were lucky on this day to win draw prizes. Here are a few photos.

PORTLAND ABFM It was a zero dark-thirty rise to board the 6:10 am COHO sailing to Port Angeles. We had a good sized convoy of cars that represented both old and new Minis to display at the Portland All British Field Meet (ABFM) held at the Portland International Raceway from 4 – 6 September 2015. The road trip created by Mike with input from others was a lot of fun. We stopped off at Rochester WA for lunch in the Highway Diner that provided us with excellent food, and service all for a reasonable price (strongly recommend stopping there if you can – try the Pie!). Arriving at our accommodations, we took time to clean up the cars. The ABFM having over 800 English vehicles in attendance was almost a sensory overload. The SOVREN racing along with the autocross and Slalom and off-roading provided non-stop fun. Dwayne, Merville, Richard and Terry all took home awards for their Class of car. In the evening we were joined by other car enthusiasts for yet another delightful meal at the Stanford’s Restaurant and Bar in Jantzen Beach SuperCenter. The Sunday provided great deals at the Swap and Shop and of course the racing continued despite a bit of rainy weather. After spending a few hours at the Swap and Shop, those of us that wished to get some mall shopping done were rewarded with good deals. On our return journey, Linda navigated us to the Black Bear Diner in Sequim WA that Richard had recommended where again, we all enjoyed a very good meal. Our journey ended with the Coho back to Victoria. It was a fantastic trip with lots of laughter and good times. For those that have not done it, you should consider doing in the future (so keep it in mind as it is held during the Labor Day Long weekend).
Below are more pictures that Mike Smith passed on from the Portland All British Field Meet.

Allan and Mike attended the MG car club show near beaver lake last weekend and forward us a couple pictures to enjoy from the event. I guess Allan and Mike might have been a bit keen as you can see by the first photo looks like were the first to show up. Looks like their was an assortment of everything from a porsche 356, to MG’s, Alpha’s and of course Allan’s Moke and Mike’s GTM. Thanks Allan for the pics and sharing of the event.

Weather was brisk but fantastic for the new years day drive. The drive started out at Tim Horton’s Shelbourne and Cedar Hill Cross Roads location. The event included a drive around the Oak Bay Waterfront, Dallas Road with a walk on the Victoria Breakwater then off to lunch. Approximately 15 people participated in the event.

We had 11 cars turn out to meet down at Tim’s for a coffee before heading down to the Fathers Day Picnic / car show. Below are some pictures from the event.
It is a Pot Luck , but please bring some savory nibbles or a dessert, and your own own wine/beer etc. For those that are interested, Linda has brought back a selection of Mini/MINI items from England for you to look over, and you know she always brings back great stuff. Hoping to see all of you, if not Merry Christmas and a happy New year!
1). Yes the third generation of the modern mini was unveiled last week at Auto Shows. The mini is a bit bigger in size and has many changes to its electronics and engine line up. Click on the pictures below to see front and rear pictures of the 3rd generation mini beside the second generation, first generation and the classic mini original.
2). Mike has just given us the link to 2014 Mini Meet (East meets West). The event will be held in Milwaukee, WI from Jul 2nd – 6’th. I’m sure we will be talking more about this event and more in coming weeks and month’s. Check out more Mini Meet details at http://minimeet2014.com/

Great Event. It was hot and sunny. Probably 800 cars in attendance. There were 66 classic mini’s and probably 30 modern mini’s in attendance. In “peoples choice” the club picked up 5 awards. Linda and Terry picked up a first with Linda’s blue Mini Cooper and a second place with Terry’s white classic mini. Mike picked up a first place with the GTM in the Mini Variant class. Richard picked up first in the Lotus Elise and Exige class and I picked up 3rd in the the modern mini class. Overall our family really enjoyed getting to know our fellow club members better over dinner, eating 50 cent ice cream cones, alternator/battery meetings, rooster displays, palm trees and informal mini tailgate parties in the parking lot . It was also nice to see friends from the local MG club and the Oregon Mini club. Below are some pictures from the show. My favourite car was the new Morgan 3 wheeler powered by an S&S two litre motorcycle engine in british racing green. Too bad we can’t import them to Canada.
We had a great day travelling to Portland. All 8 cars made it and we saw no rain. We picked up our packages at the speedway, spent some time cleaning the cars and grabbed some food before bed. Everyone is looking forward to the Saturday car show.
